These centres provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, exposure to cutting-edge technologies, and industry-relevant skill development.

Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Innovation creates the core of SITL educational philosophy. The institute actively nurtures entrepreneurial thinking through its:

  • Institution's Innovation Council (IIC)
  • Incubation Centre
  • Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC)

These platforms inspire students to identify real-world challenges, develop innovative solutions, and transform ideas into commercially viable products.

Students receive guidance and support in:

  • Product development
  • Prototype creation
  • Business planning
  • Patent filing and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
  • Copyright registration
  • Funding opportunities
  • Project approvals and institutional support
  • Interaction with entrepreneurs, investors, bankers, and industry experts

The institute also organizes major technical events such as Sinhgad Karandak and Techtonic, providing students with opportunities to showcase innovation, collaborate with peers, and engage with industry professionals.

Industry-Oriented Learning

The Academic Initiatives Team works closely with the Training and Placement Cell (TPO) to conduct training and certification programs in emerging technologies aligned with the Industry 4.0 ecosystem. STES runs the unique student training program (STP) right from first year of graduation to final year of graduation.  This training program, the duration of which is 124 hours that spread over 7 semesters, is to be undertaken by the student from the start of the first year of engineering. The program will run in association with Daivi Resources Consultancy LLP Pvt. Ltd a renowned training institute.

The unique Features of the program

  • Training that meets industry requirement
  • Assessment driven program
  • Incorporation into the curriculum
  • Dashboard supported
  • Certificate oriented

Students are encouraged to develop practical solutions for real-world challenges using open-source technologies and advanced engineering tools. The institute promotes project-based learning that strengthens software and hardware competencies while encouraging innovation, research publications, and intellectual property creation.

SITL places strong emphasis on the overall development of students through unique pedagogical approaches, incubation support, entrepreneurship initiatives, and active participation in professional bodies such as IEEE, IETE, IE, and ISHRAE, along with departmental student clubs including Microsoft Club, Business Club, INFOSIT, MESA, EESA, ACS and many more. Regular workshops, seminars, national and international conferences, and technical events further enhance students’ skills and industry readiness.

Institution's Innovation Council (IIC)

The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) at SITL has been established to cultivate a vibrant culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up development among students and faculty. Recognizing its consistent efforts, the institute has been awarded a 3-Star Rating under the IIC framework.

Throughout the academic year, the council organizes a wide range of activities to encourage innovation and entrepreneurial thinking, including:

  • Innovation and Idea Competitions
  • Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs
  • Expert Lectures and Webinars
  • Start-up and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Workshops

  • Industry Interaction Programs
  • Celebrations of National Innovation Day and Entrepreneurship Day

Through these initiatives, the Institution's Innovation Council empowers students to become innovators, entrepreneurs, and future leaders capable of making meaningful contributions to society and the nation's technological advancement.

Value Addition Programs (VAPs)

Value addition program bridge the gap between traditional/ University academic curricula and rapid industry demands. VAPs introduce students to the latest tools, software, and real-world methodologies—such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT, cyber security, block chain technology, 3D Modelling, data science and Embedded Systems—that are highly demanded by many industries. Engineering often requires a multidisciplinary approach. VAPs allow students to step outside their core branch and learn complementary skills. Technical knowledge merely alone does not guarantee career progression. VAPs also focus heavily on behavioural traits, communication skills, leadership, and human values.  Such targeted, skill-oriented certifications and workshops equip engineering students with practical expertise, significantly boosting employability and ensuring they are ready to contribute from day one.

Following are the main key points to start VAP @ SITL

Life on Campus: Celebrations, Sports & Cultural

Campus life is dream that never abandons a student and is shining beacon in front of him. Sinhgad Institutes, Lonavala Campus has so far produced thousands of professionals and the Campus life, celebrations, sports, cultural activities etc has played a vital role in transforming students to professionals.

Beyond academics, SITL follows the philosophy of "Play & Learn." Sinhgad sports academy offers an opportunity for students to receive high level coaching and competition experience with the help of coaches together with their academic study. The sports academy is a remarkable platform for students wishing to develop their technical and tactical skills which will improve overall performance and success in their chosen sport.

Our philosophy is to implement a program designed by experts that not only inculcate the ethos of Sinhgad Institute but inspires our students to succeed in all aspects of life. In recent years Sinhgad Institute teams have achieved the pinnacle of sporting excellence by participating in different sports competitions.

The institute focuses on investing in the very best sports facilities and coaches to develop sporting talent.

The institute believes that sports and recreational activities play a vital role in the holistic development of students by enhancing:

  • Cognitive abilities
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Leadership qualities
  • Team spirit
  • Organizational abilities
  • Physical fitness
  • Confidence and resilience

Living on Campus, many students expect their life, on their own, to be paradise. Life without curfews and many "house" rules would seem to be a student’s first taste of being an adult.

Regardless of gender, race, religion, students celebrate Holi, Diwali, Christmas, Navratri, Eid and many such festivals. We consistently are trying to make this campus a place for comprehensive development of students.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's vision of involving students in community service and national development. After Independence, several committees and education commissions recommended integrating social service with education to strengthen the bond between institutions and society. Based on these recommendations, the Government of India launched NSS on 24 September 1969 during the Gandhi Centenary Year. The scheme encourages students to participate voluntarily in activities such as rural development, health and sanitation, literacy, environmental conservation, disaster relief, and national integration. NSS aims to develop social responsibility, leadership, teamwork, and practical work experience among youth. It is now a Central Sector Scheme fully funded by the Government of India and operates across universities, colleges, and many +2 institutions nationwide. Through its community-oriented programmes, NSS has made campuses more socially relevant while contributing to the welfare and development of society.

In SITL we have active NSS unit and under NSS program we are conducting many social activities such as E-waste collection and its safe disposal, plastic free campus initiative, rain marathon, campaign for drug free society, drive for cleanliness at heritage forts etc.

More than 200 staff and families stay in the campus, which obviously makes students stay safe and harmless. The campus is constructed and equipped in a manner to not only serve academic education but to allow students showcase their hidden talent and potential through various activities and cultural festivals organized on the campus.
